Many wonder the sudden emergence of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the choiced candidate of the forthcoming general election 2019 and the discontinuity of the Office of the Governor of Lagos State as spareheaded by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu was born on the 25th of June 1965 into a Christian family. He is a man of team-player evident in the critical roles he played within the government in conjunction with several
units and offices. Sanwo-Olu is the man behind the timely review of salaries and allowances in conjunction with the Head of Service. As a security awareness expert, he helped set-up the Lagos State Security Trust Fund(LSSTF) and became a Board member afterwards for over four years. He holds a B.Sc and MBA in Surveying from the prestigious University of Lagos. His quest for knowledge has taken him to several courses, training and re-training in various continents of the world.
He is an alumnus of Kennedy School of Government, London Business School as well as the Lagos Business School. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is also an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management CIPM, and a fellow member of the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development, NITAD.
He also has time for leisure and social activities with his tight schedules, as he is a reknown member of the defunct Ikoyi Club, Island Club and the Clear Essence Health Club.
Sanwo-Olu is well known for his success record in the banking industry. He took up several roles and served in various capacity in three leading Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria; First City Monument Bank (formerly called First Atlantic Bank), United Bank of Africa (UBA) and Lead Bank Plc.
His journey as an astute banker started in the mid 1990s. He was promoted to the position of a Treasurer at Lead Bank PLC where he was primarily tasked to manage the liquidity portfolio of the bank. Also, daily management of the overall funding requirement of the same bank. His tenure in this capacity lasted for three years and left for UBA in 1997.
While at UBA, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu rose to the position of Senior Executive Manager where he doubled as the Chief Head of UBA's Money Market(International). His prime assignment in this role is management of UBA's Liquidity and profitability enhancement.
He became the Deputy General Manager of First Atlantic Bank PLC (now First City Monument Bank). He was charged with the responsibility of engaging top companies in the country as an expert corporate financial analyst and advisor.
With Babajide Sanwo-Olu fair share of success in the banking sector, he was also a success in the private sector. He served as a board member of several companies in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. He also acted as a Chairman in a consulting managerial capacity for some these firms. The list of these firms include:

This part of Sanwo-Olu's career is of utmost germaine and significant and most probably the why he was anointed and endorsed by the power that be in Lagos State politics.
Sanwo-Olu has been hailed by many as a specialist in the areas of human capacity development and strategic planning. He has acted in various capacities in Lagos State Government
since 2003 up till date.
In 2003, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was appointed by the then deputy governor (Femi Pedro) as Special Adviser on corporate matters in the tenor of Tinubu. This appointment set him up politically for the best thing still to come. Thus, he has become the favoured choice candidate to take up the mantle of leadership in Lagos State.
A couple of years after his appointment, Sanwo-Olu was given the directive to oversee the ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in an acting capacity.
Four years after his political appointment, he was appointed by the outgoing governor Tinubu, as a substansive Commissioner to head the Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
As Babatunde Fashola came on board in the 2007 election, Sanwo-Olu was reappointed to head the ministry of Establishemnt, Training and Pensions. Sanwo-Olu held this office for good
eight years. He left the office in 2015 after the expiration of Governor Babatunde Fashola's tenor.
Currently, Sanwo-Olu is the Managing Director of Lagos State Property Development Company under the Governorship of Akinwunmi Ambode. A Lagos State owned establishment, which oversees Housing and Urban Development in Lagos State.
As stated above, Sanwo-Olu has been involved since 2003 till now in the core operations and governance of Lagos State. He has worked tiredlessly and faithfully with two past governors till
now with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Amongst Babajide Sawo-Olu laudable achievements, several awards in recognition of his tremendous contributions to the society are listed below:

Sanwo-Olu, who hails from a Christian home, is happily married with four children. He is married to Doctor Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.
